Privacy Policy
Effective 11 July 2026.
Who we are
True Footy (truefooty.com.au) is an AFL fan site offering trade and draft analysis, fan games and a community forum. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Questions or requests can always be sent to truefootypodcast@gmail.com.
What we collect
Account information. When you create an account, our membership provider Memberstack collects and stores your email address and password (passwords are held by Memberstack in hashed form and are never visible to us). You can optionally add a username, a club allegiance and a profile picture, which are stored with your account and shown next to your forum posts and comments.
Payment information. Paid memberships are billed through Stripe, via Memberstack. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by True Footy. We can see your subscription status, plan and billing history summary.
Content you create. Your game and player ratings, rankings, ladder predictions, team selections, forum threads, replies and likes are stored in our database (hosted by Supabase). Ratings and predictions are shown publicly only as anonymous aggregates (for example a player's fan-consensus average). Forum posts and comments are public and display your username, club allegiance and profile picture.
Technical information. Like almost every website, our hosting provider (Netlify) and the services above process standard technical data such as your IP address and browser type to serve the site securely. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which involves your browser requesting files from Google's servers.
Analytics. We may use analytics services (such as Google Analytics) to understand how the site is used in aggregate, for example which pages and tools are most popular. Analytics data is not used to identify you personally.
How we use your information
We use the information above to run the site: signing you in, saving your ratings and predictions, building the fan-consensus leaderboards and teams, processing subscriptions, sending transactional emails (such as account and billing notices), responding to support requests and keeping the site secure. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Who we share it with
Your information is shared only with the service providers that make the site work: Memberstack (accounts), Stripe (payments), Supabase (database and file storage), Netlify (hosting) and Google (fonts, and analytics if enabled). Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Cookies and local storage
True Footy uses cookies and browser local storage for essential purposes only: keeping you signed in (Memberstack), remembering in-progress game picks and preferences on your device, and processing checkout (Stripe sets its own cookies on its payment pages). We do not use advertising cookies. If we enable an analytics service it may set its own cookies; you can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time, though signing in requires them.
Emails and unsubscribing
We send transactional emails about your account and billing. If we ever send marketing or newsletter emails, they will include an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out at any time by emailing truefootypodcast@gmail.com.
Keeping, correcting and deleting your data
Your account data and content are kept while your account is active. You can update your username, club and profile picture from your account at any time. To access, correct or delete your personal information, or to delete your account entirely, email truefootypodcast@gmail.com from the address on your account and we will action it within a reasonable time. Note that anonymous aggregates (such as a consensus rating that included your vote) cannot be unwound from published averages.
Your rights
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal information. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will do our best to resolve it; you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Children
Footy is for everyone, but accounts are intended for users aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, get a parent or guardian's permission before creating an account or purchasing a membership. Parents can email us to have a child's account and data removed.
Security
We rely on reputable providers (Memberstack, Stripe, Supabase, Netlify) that maintain industry-standard security. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do, and material changes will be flagged on the site.
